The Central Junior High School academic team took top honors in the state and nation on in the "Questions Unlimited Electronic Scholastic Tournament."

The team, composed of 17 eighth- and ninth-grade students placed first in Missouri, first among AAA schools and fourth in the nation.

The competition was based on 2,000 possible points. The average score for all schools was 1,362. The Cape team which is coached by Dixie Cook, scored 1,674.

Team members in the ninth grade are: Patrick Dunham, Christy Hey, Marcus Jones, Ben Lowrance, Erik Morse, Boyne Park, Nora Renka, Nick Ryan, Matt Wilson.

Eighth-grade members include: Jonathan Anderson, Sam Fletcher, Matthew Hawkins, Julie McGowen, Brandon Ruth, Amanda Stoecker, Susan Tansil, and Marisa Uzoaru.
