OAK RIDGE STUDENT GROUP SEEKS HELP WITH LIVING HISTORY PROJECT

Students in an Oak Ridge R-VI Schools gifted program are seeking historical information about some of the county's rural schools for a unique project.

Class members of Oak Ridge's EXCELS Secondary Gifted program are currently seeking any information concerning the 13 rural schools which were consolidated in 1953 to form the Oak Ridge district.

The students hope to videotape interviews with former students, staff members, custodians or anyone who might have been associated with the 13 schools. The videotaped interviews will then be edited and used to form a videotaped living history of the individual schools.

The schools are: Critesville, Daisy, Fulbright, Hildebrand, Arnsberg, Goshen, Oak Ridge, Horrell, Liberty, Apple Creek Valley, Appleton, Buckeye and Concord.

"We do a research project each year and this year we decided to put together a living history project," said EXCELS instructor Rahe Wise.
