KRCU's previous 100-watt power limited its reception to parts of the city of Cape Girardeau and a potential audience of about 20,000 to 25,000, Southeast President Kala Stroup said.

A 230-foot transmitter tower was erected last month near the station's Henderson Street studios as part of the move to boost the station's power.

Future plans call for installation of repeater stations, which would extend the range of KRCU into the Bootheel, the Poplar Bluff area, and the Mineral Area, Stroup said.
