Are you at risk for a stroke or cardiovascular disease? You can find out by taking part in a free stroke-prevention screening sponsored by St. Francis Medical Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at the center's Information Center, 2122 E. Jackson Blvd., in Jackson.

St. Francis Fitness and Wellness Coordinator Bill Logan said the screening will include blood-pressure and cholesterol checks. Results are analyzed along with data such as age, gender, various risk factors and family history of cardiovascular disease.

"This information allows us to suggest lifestyle modifications which can help people lower their risk of stroke," Logan said.

The screening program was developed by the National Stroke Association in cooperation with the American Association of Retired Persons, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the American College of Chest Physicians.
