The Progress Edition is an annual effort to chronicle the area's achievements of the previous year, while looking ahead to the goals and possibilities of the coming 12 months. The Southeast Missourian has published a Progress Edition every year since 1937.

This year's edition will include sections dealing with industry, education, government, construction, real estate, health, area communities, financial institutions and businesses.

Throughout the dozens of stories, there is an emphasis on how businesses impact lives in this region, from the provision of jobs to the creation of revenues for public treasuries.

Because of new technology employed by the Southeast Missourian in the last year, the Progress Edition will use more color photography than it has in any previous publication of this type, in addition to sharper reproduction of black and white photographs.
