The Southeast Missourian asked students at Franklin Elementary School what they do when they are bored.

Geoff VandeWeghe: "I usually sculpt any old thing. Sometimes I read books, magazines and comic books. Sometimes I grab my creek pole and go fishing for crawdads, or clean my pets' cages."

Tiffany Aldridge: "I sometimes play secretary with my little brother, if my mom will let me use the typewriter. Sometimes I go outside and play games like hide-and-seek or tag, or go to the park and play kickball."

Gabe Austin: "I don't just lie around all day. I go and do something like rollerblade outside, or go to the ice skating rink. If all else fails, you've got to have a backup plan. Mine is to go and read a book."

Margaret Clark: "My first choice is to read a book. If that gets boring, I make cookies or brownies. Television is my last option, because I am bored mostly on weekends, and then the only shows on TV are commercials."

Thomas Clayton: "I like to beat on my punching bag, read, listen to the radio, or most of all, watch TV. Another remedy is playing with my dog. The strange coincidence is whenever I start to get bored, my mom usually has work for me!"

Sophie Gathman: "When I'm bored, I either use the computer or read. Sometimes I go outside to swing. Sometimes I also complain to my father, but he suggests cleaning my room -- so I usually avoid it now."
