Jackson attorney John Lichtenegger will present the spring commencement address at Southeast Missouri State University.

The commencement ceremony will be held May 7 at 2 p.m. at the Show Me Center.

Lichtenegger is a member and former president of the University of Missouri Board of Curators. He served on the Task Force on Critical Choices in Higher Education in 1992.

In all, 662 undergraduates and 37 graduate students will receive diplomas.

Leading the class of undergraduates are: Holly Stroder of Sedgewickville, who holds a 4.0 grade point average; Matt Thorn of Bloomfield, with a 3.99 GPA; Meri Nitzel of Trenton, Ill., and Karla Graviett of Oran, both with 3.97 grade point averages; and Boyd Lumsden of Bloomfield, with a 3.94 GPA.

In addition, 31 undergraduate and four graduate student members of the Phi Kappa Phi international honor society will be recognized during commencement exercises.

An honors convocation will be held at 11 a.m. on May 7 in Academic Auditorium. Twenty-three graduate students and 116 undergraduates will be recognized at the convocation.

Frank Linn, professor of educational administration and counseling, will deliver the honors convocation remarks.

Lichtenegger graduated from Jackson High School and attended Southeast before moving on to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he received both his bachelor's and law degrees.
