JACKSON -- SEMO Branch 8252 has received Lutheran Brotherhood's "superior" rating for its community service activities in 1993. The rating recognizes the local service group for its effectiveness in bringing Lutheran Brotherhood's fraternal (charitable and benevolent) resources into the local area.

SEMO Branch 8252 received this award based on the number and variety of community service projects it conducted, the percent of eligible congregations using Lutheran Brotherhood's Congregational Matching Funds, the number of branch events to which members were invited, usage of promotional resources, and the proper filing and reporting of service activity.

Officers of SEMO Branch 8252 are Bill Gholson, president, Jackson; Milton and Edith Roth, vice presidents, Frohna; Amie Kiehne, secretary, Jackson; Adella Moore, treasurer, Jackson; Joan Walter, publicity officer, Jackson; Grace Wille, service officer, Jackson; Bill Weber, education officer, Jackson; and Marjorie Swan, respecteen officer, Pocahontas.

Lutheran Brotherhood is a fraternal benefit society offering a broad range of financial products and services to Lutherans nationwide. Through its fraternal programs, the Society aids its members, their communities and Lutheranism. Included in these resources are educational scholarships, disaster relief assistance, matching-gift programs for Lutheran congregations and schools, RespecTeen (resources for positive youth development), grants to Lutheran institutions, and support for 850 local branches (member-volunteer groups organized for fellowship and community service).
