The Safe House Roundup a western-theme fund-raising event for Cape Girardeau's Safe House for Women is planned June 4.

Organizers have been planning the event since November. A number of local businesses and organizations have donated items toward the event, to offset the cost, said Lisa Friese, who is chairman of the event along with Kerrye Foley.

"We hope to raise between $7,000 and $10,000," Friese said.

The roundup is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. and is sponsored by the Safe House Auxiliary. This marks the auxiliary's first large-scale event. "We meet once a month and members usually bring needed items for the Safe House," Friese said. "We also sponsor the children's parties for holidays. This is our first fund-raiser."

New members are also needed for the auxiliary.
