U.S. Rep. Bill Emerson, R-Mo., has announced that the Eighth District Mobile Office will visit the counties of Butler, Ripley, Carter, Howell, Oregon, Shannon, Reynolds, Wayne, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau this week.

Congressman Emerson encourages "all area residents to take advantage of the office --your direct link to Washington -- and let me know what is on your minds."

The Eighth Congressional District of Missouri includes 26 counties, encompasses over 19,000 square miles, and is home to more than 500,000 people.

"With this tremendous size, keeping Congressional services accessible to everyone is all the more challenging," Emerson said. "The Eighth District Mobile Office is a way of bringing the services of the Congressional Office closer to home."

The mobile office is staffed with an official representative of Emerson's office "to help you with your problems related to the federal government or to listen to your opinion and concerns, and pass your comments along to me," the congressman said. "I encourage all area residents to come out and take advantage of the Mobile Office."

On Monday the mobile office will be at the Poplar Bluff Forest Service from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; the Doniphan courthouse from 12:30-1:30 p.m.; Grandin City Hall from 2:30-3:30 p.m.; and the Van Buren courthouse from 4:00-5:00.

On Tuesday, the mobile office will stop at the Winona Post Office, 8:30-9:30 a.m.; Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, 10:00-11:00; Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce, 11:30-12:30; the Alton courthouse, 2:00-3:00; and Thayer Town & Country Plaza, 3:30-4:30.

On Wednesday, the mobile office will visit the Eminence courthouse, 9:00-10:00 a.m.; the Ellington Senior Center, 11:00-noon; the Centerville courthouse, 12:30-1:30; and the Piedmont library from 2:30-3:30.

On Thursday, the mobile office will visit the Williamsville Nutrition Center, 9:00-10:00 a.m.; the Greenville courthouse, 10:30-11:30: the Marble Hill, Library, 12:30-1:30: and the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, 2:00-3:00.
