SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Park Board will kick off the 18th annual Mid-Summer Festival Friday and Saturday in Scott City Park.

The festival has returned to its summer venue after a two-year stint in the fall.

On Friday, festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a magic show, featuring Cape Girardeau magician Rob Huff.

His performance will be followed by the Little Mister and Little Miss Contest.

The Heartland Wanderers will perform country line dances at 8 p.m. Friday, followed by music by TUFA until midnight.

Saturday morning will begin with a parade from the 100 block of Crites Street to the park. Lineup will begin at 10 a.m. Participants are welcome. Following the parade, a bicycle contest will be held in the park.

Signups begin at noon for a horseshoe pitching contest. There will also be a volleyball tournament for eight teams of four players. At 2 p.m. Saturday, a free throw contest for boys and girls ages 8 to 18 is slated.

At 6 p.m., the annual drawing of the youth league raffle will kick off the evening's activities.

The Miss Summer Teen contest will follow, sponsored by the Scott City Women's Club.

Putt'n on the Hits, a lip sync contest with cash prizes, will follow the beauty contest. Entry forms for the contest are available at the Scott City Pool.

Wipfler Sound System will provide music from 9 p.m. to midnight.

A fireworks display at 10 p.m., donated by the Lady Luck Gaming Corporation, will conclude the day's events.

Gifts for hourly attendance drawings were donated by Chap Arnold Insurance.

Rides, games, food stands, pony rides, a petting zoo and hayrides will be available both days.
