TWO INJURED IN ACCIDENT ALONG ROUTE 3 IN ILLINOIS

McCLURE, Ill. An 86-year-old man from Anna was listed in critical condition Sunday night at St. Francis Medical Center after the car he was driving struck another vehicle head-on earlier in the day on Illinois Route 3.

Glen R. Hindman was taken to the hospital's critical care unit with major injuries after the 1:40 p.m. accident at McClure.

The other driver, Violet Hazelwood, 62, of Indianapolis, Ind., was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

No passengers were in either car.

A spokeswoman for the Illinois State Police said Hindman drove into the southbound lane while going northbound. She said it is unknown whether his car swerved, drifted or entered from a side road.

Both vehicles sustained major damage.
