ALTO PASS, Ill. -- An Alto Pass, Ill., man was killed and his daughter seriously injured in a three-wheeler accident early Monday near his home.

Donald K. Garver, 29, was killed after the three-wheeler he was operating left the roadway, struck several trees and plummeted down a steep ravine. The passenger was his 4-year-old daughter, Jerrica Garver.

A spokesman for the Illinois State Police said that the accident happened at approximately 12:30 a.m., on Bald Knob Road, just south of Route 127 near Alto Pass.

The girl was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, where she remained in critical condition.
