A morning arts workshop for families will be held Saturday at Clippard Elementary School.
The 9:30-11 a.m. workshop will explore India's Festival of Color and Festival of Pongal. Saket Rohatgi and Ravi Govindarajan, students at Southeast Missouri State University, will discuss their native India through the use of maps, music and artifacts.
Children will apply face colors with powdered chalk and will make greeting cards.
Art teachers Brenda Seyer and Elizabeth Thomas are coordinating the workshop.
The workshop is part of the "Festivals, Families and the Arts" series sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts. The series explores the holidays of foreign countries through hands-on art projects, speakers and music.
Activities are suitable for children ages 5-13 accompanied by an adult. Admission is $1 per person and advance registration is required.
Phone the council at 334-9233 for more information.
