A colloquium on student involvement in scientific research will be presented on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University Feb. 11 by a professor of psychology at Emporia (Kansas) State University. A colloquium on student involvement in scientific research will be presented on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University Feb. 11 by a professor of psychology at Emporia (Kansas) State University.

The department of psychology, the Psychology Club and Psi Chi national psychology honorary of Southeast Missouri State are sponsoring the event in which Stephen Davis will address "Type A Behavior, Death Anxiety, Rats, and Some Yucky Tasting Stuff: Prescription for Success."

The address is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the Crisp Hall of Nursing auditorium. The public is invited.

Davis has earned several awards based on his work with students in the classroom and in research. He is the recipient of the American Psychological Foundation's Distinguished Teaching in Psychology Award for 1988 and the American Psychological Association's Teaching Award for 1989. He also won the first annual Psi Chi/Florence L. Denmark National Faculty Advisor Award in 1987.

Davis has directed 46 theses and has published nearly 100 scientific articles with student co-authors.

After earning his doctoral degree in experimental psychology from Texas Christian University, Davis taught at King College in Bristol, Tenn., and Austin Peay University in Clarkesville, Tenn. In 1979, he accepted an appointment as chairman of the psychology department at Emporia State University, where he currently serves.
