The Southeast Missourian apologizes for the error in its TV Update this past Tuesday that announced President Clinton's State of the Union address would be telecast that evening.

The error was made by TV Update, which prints the weekly magazine. It appeared incorrectly in more than 2,400 newspapers served by TV Update. A company spokesman explained that the State of the Union historically is given the Tuesday after the Wednesday inauguration. The service could not get a delay confirmed in time for the printing. TV Update went ahead with the traditional time frame. Clinton later announced his speech was delayed until Feb. 17, due to foreign crises.

A complaint has also been forwarded by the newspaper about several of the football playoff games that were listed on the wrong networks. Outcomes of wildcard games affected these games, and apparently switched the networks, according to a TV Update spokesman. Again, they explained, the problem comes from the fact these TV guides are printed two weeks in advance.

The daily grids on the comic pages were correct, since they were printed at a later date.
