NEW LOCATION: RIVER CITY COINS AT 713 BROADWAY

River City Coins has moved to Broadway.

"We have purchased the building at 713 Broadway," said Michael Sprouse, numismatist and owner of the business that has been in Cape Girardeau since 1986. "We have more room, and I think our visibility will be good."

Sprouse, a Hayti native, attended Southeast Missouri State University and worked as a commercial banker in Memphis, Tenn., before returning to Missouri to open a coin shop at 1625 Independence.

The business offers a variety of coins and coin-collecting supplies.

"We have coins for every kind of collector: from the novice to the serious investor," said Sprouse, who has been collecting coins since he was a youngster.

"We also have room here to display our collecting supplies and various coin publications," he said.

Sprouse helped organize and establish the Cape Girardeau Coin Collectors Show, which is held here twice a year in March and October at the Holiday Inn.

"The three-day, spring show will be held from noon to 7 p.m. March 12, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 13, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14." he said.

The show is produced by Quality Collectors Shows of Memphis.

Sprouse is a member of the American Numismatic Association and other numismatist organizations.

Sprouse, his wife, Debbie, and children, Jessica and Shane, reside in Cape Girardeau.
