BABBAGE'S OPENS STORE IN WEST PARK MALL

Babbage's, a computer software operation, opened recently at West Park Mall.

Babbage's, in the Famous Barr concourse, is a Dallas-based chain that includes more than 250 stores nationwide. It boasts an inventory that includes entertainment, educational, and business and personal software applications.

"We try to take the stress out of selecting any type of computer software," said Tom Jordan, Babbage's district manager. "We can set up purchase-order accounts for businesses, special order almost any software title available, make recommendations based on a customer's needs, and act as software consultants for both businesses and home."

Michael Warden is manager of the store and Terry Stacks is vice president. Stacks previously managed McCann shoe store in Cape Girardeau.

Warden has worked with computers for more than two years. He served as assistant manager at the Chesterfield, Mo., store until October, when he was promoted to manager and helped open Babbages at Carbondale, Ill. He transferred to Cape Girardeau to open the new store.

The firm has been in existence for more than a decade.
