HISTORY SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY

Turn-of-the-century photographs of Cape Girardeau will be feature during the spring opening of the Glenn House Saturday.

Local historians will be on hand to answer questions about their collections from noon-4 p.m.

Bernice Coar-Cobb, an associate professor at Southeast Missouri State University, has assembled a collection of photographs and memorabilia on the history of African Americans in the city.

Also present will be Sharon Sanders, librarian at the Southeast Missourian. She will present a slide show of seldom-seen photos of the city.

Photographer Tom Neumeyer wil display 8-by-10 photos of the downtown area and the Haarig district dating from the 1880s to the 1920s.

Postcards sets made from the historic shots will be available.

Randy Huebel, a collector of old postcards of Cape Girardeau scenes, will present part of his collection for display.

The public will be admitted free to the open house displays.
