FASTENAL CO. OPENS A BRANCH ON BLOOMFIELD ROAD IN CAPE

The Fastenal Co., a national distributor of threaded metal fasteners and related construction supplies, has opened a branch at 2228 Bloomfield Road.

Fastenal, headquartered in Winona, Minn., opened 11 new stores during the first quarter of 1993, bringing the total number of stores to 211.

In addition, the firm opened two FastTool stores in Iowa. FastTool is a wholly-owned division of Fastenal, specializing in hand, power and specialty tools and safety supplies.

The manager of the branch at Cape Girardeau is Howard Legget, who moved into the area from Jackson, Mich. Scott Souter, who moved here from Sioux Falls, S.D., is assistant manager.

Fastenal announced its first-quarter financial results recently. Net sales were $23,404,000, a gain of 28.4 percent over the $18.2 million sales of the same period a year ago.

Fastenal has been recognized for growth by Financial World, a national magazine. In a recent issue, Fastenal was listed as the 10th-best growth company among more than 200 listed, based on such factors as profitability, return on equity, current results and valuation.
