Drury Inn's Cape Girardeau manager, Pete Poe, will roll up his sleeves and serve breakfast to youngsters at the Cape Girardeau Head Start Center Wednesday.

Drury Inn will make a similar cash contribution to cover one day's breakfast costs at more than 30 Head Start programs in cities where they have hotels. Company officials estimate the total value of the contribution at over $20,000.

In all, about 20,000 children will be served breakfast, said a company spokesman.

The promotion celebrates the limited-service hotel chain's 20th anniversary. The first Drury Inn opened in Sikeston in April of 1973.

The breakfast will consist of many of the same items found in Drury Inn's free QuikStart breakfast.

"Just as we have learned the value of a nutritious breakfast for our guests, we also recognize the importance of a good start every morning for preschoolers," said Chuck Drury, president of Drury Inns. Inc. "This financial donation to the center's nutrition program is made in celebration of the tremendous boost the Head Start Center gives to Cape Girardeau-area youngsters."
