CENTRAL MUSIC STUDENTS PLACE IN STATE EVENT

Music students from Cape Girardeau Central High School earned top ratings at the Missouri State High School Music Festival recently.

Students competed in solo events and small ensemble events in both vocal and instrumental area.

Vocal soloists Jenny Broos, Jennifer Kafka, Chris Redfearn and George Aplin earned a I rating. Soloists Sarah Deimund, Alison Nall, and Alexis Anthony earned II ratings.

Vocal ensemble George Aplin, Chris Calder, Jason Cheek, Clayton Hahs, Tom Robinson, Stan Seabaugh, Eric McGowen and Eric Kelley earned a I rating.

Another ensemble of George Aplin, Jenny Broos, Clayton Hahs, Amber Hopkins, Alison Nall, Chris Redfearn, Tom Robinson and Jennifer Worth also received a I.

Instrumental soloists earning I ratings were Eric Burnley, clarinet; Jennie Lukens, oboe; Renee Robinson, flute; Kirsten Werne, French horn; Traci Baker, alto saxophone; Josh Miller, baritone; and John Cochran, piano.

Ensembles earning I ratings were saxophone quartet Wes Grabel, Tim Hite, Marshall Marietta and Paul Wilson; percussion ensemble Cary Dunavan, Jesse Dunavan, John Hearnes, Craig Marshall, Maria Swan, Jody Wagner and Corey Wright; French horn trio, George Aplin, Sara Moore, Kirsten Werne; Woodwind quartet Kristie Jackson, Alison Nall, Christy Wetzel and Erica Wilson.

Soloists earning a II rating were Laura Krone, piano; Corey Wright, drums; and Cary Dunavan, drums.

Ensembles earning a II rating were: percussion ensemble, Ron Farrow, Brandon Glenn, John Hearnes, Aaron Stott and Jody Wagner, and percussion ensemble, Del Clover, Joanie Edmundson, Julie Edmundson, Reed Edmundson, Craig Marshall, Corey Wright; Flute trio Anna Fornkahl, Blaine Oxley, Becky Rigdon; Clarinet quartet Eric Burnley, J.J. Haycraft, Jessica Hogan, and Kristie Jackson.
