"Short Stuff," an exhibition of art especially for children, will be held from July 6 to Aug. 13 in the Southeast Missouri University Museum.

The exhibit will feature paintings hung low on the gallery walls, providing easy access for young people to view. Visitors to the gallery also will be invited to touch sculpture, which is on loan from local artists who are interested in encouraging children to feel as well as see art.

Two young friends of the museum, Sophie and Hanna Gathman, will help museum Director Pat Reagan-Woodard choose paintings from the collections to place in the gallery.

Participants in the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts Children Summer Workshop plan to visit the museum to sketch and study from the special "Short Stuff" exhibition.

Families and summer program groups are invited to visit the University Museum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Groups are asked to call the museum at (314) 651-2260 to schedule a tour.

The museum is in Memorial Hall off Circle Drive.
