Alice Irvine and Juanita Spicer have been appointed to the Cape Girardeau Public Library Board of Trustees.

The new members replace Don Sherwood, who served on the board 11 years, and B. Ray Owen, who served six years.

Irvine, who is retired from the Perkins Radiation Center in Baton Rouge, La., has been a resident of Cape Girardeau since 1987. She previously served as president of the Friends of the Library at Cape Girardeau. She was a volunteer at the Baton Rouge Library from 1978 to 1987.

Spicer, a retired teacher and day care operator, has lived in Cape Girardeau since 1975. She currently operates the Edward M. Spicer Memorial Tutorial Program at St. James AME Church. She is also a member of the Head Start Policy Council and a volunteer at Southeast Missouri State University.

Dale Gerecke is new president of the library's Board of Trustees. Other officers include Patricia Stahly, vice president; Ron Carlton, treasurer; and Marilyn Ritter, secretary. Other board members are Mary Robertson, Dr. Janet Ruopp and Don Zimmer.
