Volunteers are needed to help during the 28th annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon on Labor Day, Sept. 6.

The telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be hosted by KFVS-12 broadcasters Mary-Ann Maloney and Randy Ray.

The telethon will begin at 9 a.m. Labor Day morning rather than its usual start the night before Labor Day. The change is to allow the television station to continue coverage of the flood on "The Breakfast Show" and "CBS This Morning" on Labor Day morning, a spokesman said.

As a result, the telethon will end two hours later than usual at 8 p.m. Labor Day.

Several dozen volunteers will be needed both at the television studios in Cape Girardeau and at University mall in Carbondale. Volunteers will answer phones, sort mails and perform other duties.

Four shifts, ranging from two to three hours, are available.

Phone 335-4400 to volunteer.
