TRYOUTS FOR BICENTENNIAL MUSICAL SET SUNDAY, WEDNESDAY

Tryouts for the Bicentennial musical "Lou-ee" will be held Sunday and Wednesday at the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts, 100 Broadway.

The musical, written and composed by David Kaempfer, depicts highlights in the life here of Cape Girardeau founder Louis Lorimier, the city's founder.

Major parts are available for eight men and three women. Two of the women's parts could be played by mature teenagers.

Three parts are suitable for teenage boys, and one is suitable for a teenage girl.

There is one speaking part for a boy under 8 years of age, and several non-speaking parts for young children.

Minor parts, some of them singing, are available for several men.

Others are needed to handle costumes and props, and to help with the scenery, lighting and sound effects.

A percussionist and bass player also are needed to accompany the singers.

Tryouts will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday and at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"Lou-ee" will be presented Oct. 23-24 as the final major event of the Bicentennial.
