Jackson attorney John P. Lichtenegger, who is president of the University of Missouri System Board of Curators, will present the winter commencement address at the University of Missouri-Rolla on Dec. 18.

Approximately 500 degrees will be awarded at the university's winter commencement.

Lichtenegger received a bachelor's degree in political science and a law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1969 and 1972, respectively.

In 1985, then-governor John Ashcroft appointed Lichtenegger to the Board of Curators.

Lichtenegger has served as vice president of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Jackson Industrial Development Authority. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Jackson Jaycees in 1982.

He is a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and has held leadership positions in the organization.
