The filing period for the April 5 municipal and school board elections in Jackson and Chaffee open Tuesday.

Candidates for city alderman or school board in both towns may file between Tuesday and Feb. 1. School board members serve three-year terms and aldermen two-year terms.

Candidates for the Jackson Board of Aldermen may file from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the office of the city clerk.

Candidates for the Jackson Board of Education may file from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the superintendent's office on Oklahoma Street.

The term of three-term Ward 4 Jackson Alderman LeRoy Brown, who announced he is retiring from the board. expires.

The other three aldermen whose terms expire have said they will seek re-election. They are: Ward 1, David Ludwig; Ward 2, David Reiminger, who will run for a full, two-year term after completing the one-year unexpired term of former Alderman Phil Johnston; and Ward 3, Glenn Oldham.

Jackson school board members whose terms expire in April are three-term member Larry Koenig and Jack Knowlan Jr., who is completing his second three-year term on the board.

In Chaffee, candidates for the board of aldermen may file at the office of the city clerk from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Candidates for the Chaffee school board may file at the office of the superintendent at Chaffee High School.

Chaffee aldermen whose terms expire in April are: Ward 1, Jerry Wolsey, who is completing his second term; Ward 2, Wayne Crippen, who is completing the one-year unexpired term of Marlene Creech; Ward 3, Ron Eskew, who is completing his first term; and Ward 4, Brad Bader, who is completing his first term.

Eskew and Bader also served one-year unexpired terms on the board prior to being elected to full terms.

Chaffee school board members whose terms expire in April are Larry Myer and Dale Tierney. Both are completing their second terms. In addition, each has served one-year unexpired terms of board members who resigned.
