Dumplins is returning to Cape Girardeau.

The restaurant chain, headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., will move into Lorimont Place, which is between West Park Mall and Doctors' Park, in the near future.

"Construction is already under way at the Dumplins site," said Elizabeth Chastain, leasing agent for Lorimont Place.

Dumplins was previously located in downtown Cape Girardeau, but left the area about two years ago. The operation features apple dumplings and chicken dumplings. The menu also includes soups, salads, sandwiches, and "all kinds of desserts."

Dumplins, which lists two restaurants at Sikeston, is one of three businesses that have leased space at Lorimont.

Others are Pind's Jewelry and Jeannie's Boutique, local businesses.

Lorimont is part of a multi-million-dollar retail-professional office complex and corporate home to Health Services Corporation of America, now open at 840 S. Mount Auburn Road.

The complex includes the four-level, 60,000-square-foot HSCA corporate headquarters building; a two-level, 32,000-square-foot structure for rental lease space; a two-level parking garage; and a 1.3-acre "out-parcel" area north of a plaza area. The out-parcel area is designed to accommodate up to a 12,000-square-foot anchor tenant with available land options.

Garfield's Restaurant and Pub will open in West Park Mall about Sept. 1.

"That's the date we're shooting for," said a spokesman of the restaurant chain Thursday.

Garfield's, a casual family-oriented eatery and pub, opened a restaurant in the University Mall at Carbondale a year ago.

Garfield's, founded in 1984 by Vincent Orza and headquartered at Oklahoma City, has a total of 33 restaurants 14 franchises and 19 company-owned in operation, including three in Missouri.

The restaurants are primarily clustered in Oklahoma with 14, and Texas with six.

"Eighty-five percent of our operations are in regional shopping malls," said Kathy Ferguson. "They serve lunch and dinner seven days a week."

The menu offers American, Italian, and Mexican items, including 75 selections from among appetizers, salads, entrees, sandwiches and desserts.

Expansion plans for 1993 call for eight company-operated units and two franchised locations. Management expects an additional 10 to 12 company-owned locations in regional malls in 1994.

Boatmen's Bank is into "red ink" though not the kind that startles bankers.

Boatmen's, the largest banking system in Missouri and one of the top 30 in the nation, has adopted red as its official color. From now on, its riverboat logo will be red, and its name will be written in red.

Bank statements, credit cards and automatic tellers will be done in red. Even customers' checks will be printed in red.

The color "communicates vibrancy and enthusiasm," said Boatmen's chairman, Andrew Craig. "The color change is a visual representation of Boatmen's progress in terms of innovative pro~ducts, new technology and quality of services."

In Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Fruitland, the first changes will begin to appear in August, according to James P. Limbaugh, president and CEO of Boatmen's area banks.

In some locations, Boatmen's has started installing new automatic teller machines and is gradually repainting exterior signage.

Boatmen's Bancshares, Inc., operates more than 400 locations in Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Iowa, Arkansas amd Texas, including eight locations in Cape Girardeau County.

A new Broussard's cajun restaurant has opened in the Central West End area of St. Louis.

More than 300 persons attended the recent grand opening of Broussard's on Maryland Plaza, to feast on crawfish etouffee, shrimp creole, fried alligator and other creole and cajun delicacies, along with Baron Broussard's homemade bread pudding.

Proceeds from the grand opening went to the CWE Neighborhood Growth Fund to enhance pedestrian lighting and other neighborhood improvements.

Broussard is a familiar name to Cape Girardeans. The Baron opened Broussard's Cajun Cuisine at 102 N. Main in downtown Cape Girardeau in 1986.

Broussard, a native of Crowley, La., purchased the old Town Pump Restaurant in downtown Cape Girardeau, and turned it into a cajun restaurant.

Two years later, he expanded the operation into an adjacent building to bring his seating capacity to its present 100. He still maintains a small interest in the Cape Girardeau restaurant, but moved to St. Louis where he opened Broussard's Cajun Restaurant on South Broadway.

While at the Cape Girardeau restaurant, the Baron introduced "Felix," a pet alligator, which he still has at the South Broadway location.

Universal Physique Fitness & Racquet Center has added another service to its health and fitness list professional therapeutic massage.

The firm, owned by Doug and Lisa Friese, and located at 505 S. Mt. Auburn Road, recently acquired Professional & Therapeutic Massage, which was already located at the same address.

"Through the promotion of massage therapy, we can assist athletes, fitness enthusiasts, the elderly, disabled and healthy individuals concerned about wellness," said Friese, in announcing the addition of the service. "Massage therapy is recognized throughout the country as a means to improve performance and help prevent injury. The benefits of massage therapy are numerous."

Professional & Therapeutic Massage is located near the aerobic room at Universal Physique. A professional massage therapist will be available Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Mike and Mary Kutz, owners of Perryville Auto Supply, are branching out.

They recently opened Cape Auto Paint & Supply, Inc., at 209 S. Plaza Way in Cape Girardeau.

"We handle everything from primers to polishing compounds," said Cheryl Cook, manager of the Cape Girardeau operation. "We're the newest and largest PPG automotive paint dealer in the area."

The PPG automotive finishing products are available both retail and wholesale.

"We also offer windshields and window glass for dealers," said Cook. "We do not install the glass."

Also working out of the Cape Girardeau store is salesman Drew Garner, who calls on body shops and other automotive shops throughout the area.

The local store here will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
