JACKSON -- George Dickerson of B&B Marine Co., Highway 72 West in Jackson, is winner of the OMC and Johnson Motors Excellence Award.

The award is presented in recognition of outstanding service to customers.

Kathy Bowers of Delta has been named manager of Auto Zone, 835 N. Kingshighway.

Bowers, who previously served as assistant manager, has been with the firm six-and-a-half years.

She succeeds Tim Hulett, who transferred to another company store.

Billy Green, a stereo installer for Audio One, captured first place in car stereo competition at the International Auto Sound Challenge Association's "Pound the Ground" contest in St. Louis recently.

Green, of Sikeston, installed an array of stereo equipment in his '88 Ford Taurus, including a CD player with power controls. It is utilized through the use of the cruise control and power mirror controls.

"All of the equipment is hidden in the car," said Green, who has been installing stereo units for six year.

Audio One is at 2100 William.

Dr. Michael Wulfers of Cape Girardeau has been named a director for the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians, which held its installation of officers for the 1993-94 year recently at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach.

Dr. Marla Tobin of Higginsville was installed as president of the organization. Other officers include Dr. William D. Soper, Liberty, president-elect; Dr. James Turner, Washington, vice president; and Dr. Mark Martin of Lees Summit, secretary-treasurer.

Anne Foust of Cape Garden Supply, 10 Plaza Way, recently attended the Atlanta, Ga., Gift Market. The market displayed fall and Christmas gift items.

Cape Garden Supply opened in April.

Aleisha Nabors, Jennifer Adamson, Vinita Arnold and Jodi Sticht were big winners during the Stage One The Hair School "Mid Summer Fantasy" competition.

Competition was conducted in four classifications.

Sticht was the "Fantasy" class winner, Nabors won the "0-750 hours" hairstyling class, Adamson was winner in the "750-1,300 hours" hairstyling, and Arnold was winner in the "1,300-1,500 hours" hairstyling.

Stage One The Hair School is at 904 Broadway.

A dinner with country music performer Randy Travis, and a three-day, two-night trip to Opryland in Nashville, Tenn., will be top prize for the top three winners of Shoney's "Country Meals Sweepstakes."

The contest is being offered to celebrate Shoney's four new country menu items liver and onions, country-fried steak, potroast and meatloaf. The contest will start July 26 and entry forms are available at participating restaurants. No purchase is necessary to enter.

The Cape Girardeau restaurant is at Route K and West Street.

Commerce Bankshares Inc., has announced earnings of $42.4 million for the first six months of 1993, up 23.2 percent over the $34.4. million for the same period a year ago.

Per-share earnings were $1.35 for 1993, a 12.5 percent increase over the $1.20 of 1992.

Net income for the quarter, which ended June 30, 1993, was $21.4 million, up from the $18.1 million of a year ago. Per-share earnings for the quarter were 68 cents compared to 63 cents during the same quarter a year ago.

Residents of 49 Missouri counties and St. Louis City who have been affected by flooding may be eligible for disaster unemployment assistance, said the Missouri Division of Employment Security.

The insurance is available in areas that are declared disaster areas. That includes Cape Girardeau, Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties.

Persons living or working in these counties who became unemployed as a result of the floods may be eligible for the benefits.

The Cape Girardeau market has been selected by Domino's Pizza, headquartered at Ann Arbor, Mich., as one of the first small markets in the nation to introduce the lineup of Domino's submarine sandwich delivery.

Domino's will offer six different sandwiches Philly cheese, meatball, club, zesty Italian, ham and cheese, and turkey and cheese in both 6- and 12-inch sizes.

The Cape Girardeau franchise is owned by Dan and Tammy Lynn of Cape Girardeau.
