CARBONDALE, Ill. Wal-Mart Inc. has submitted preliminary plans to the city of Carbondale for a new 121,000-square-foot facility on the city's east side.

The structure would be near the northeast corner of Giant City Road and Main Street.

Wal-Mart already operates an 80,000-square-foot store about a half mile west of the site.

The Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) has announced the sale of the Amber Court Apartments at O'Fallon, Mo.

"The RTC has the monumental task of selling the real estate holdings of failed savings and loans," said C. Russell Kranich Jr., RTC asset specialist. "The proceeds of those sales area then applied to depositors' savings accounts. When a large sale such as the Amber Court Apartments takes place, the RTC is anxious to tell the public about it."

The Amber Courts property consists of 12 one-story buildings on 5.8 acres. It has a total of 87 apartments ranging from studio units to two-bedroom units.

The RTC sale was to Melvin Rabushka of St. Louis. Seller financing of $1.1 million was provided by the RTC.

Three awards The Small Business of the Year Award, the Rush H. Limbaugh Award and Go-Getter Award will be presented during the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner and dance at the Show Me Center Friday.

A social hour will start at 6 p.m., with the banquet at 7 p.m. The dance will start at 9 p.m.
