JACKSON -- Cape Girardeau County residents will vote for members of the University Extension Council this month. JACKSON -- Cape Girardeau County residents will vote for members of the University Extension Council this month.

Ballots for the election will appear in local newspapers the week of Jan. 20, along with voting instructions and candidate information.

Ballots will also be available at the Extension Center in Jackson.

Ballots may be returned by mail, on or before Jan. 31 or brought to the Extension Center.

Council Members nominated are:

George Kirchdoerfer, Jackson, who is loan officer for Production Credit Association. He is currently serving on the Extension Council. He is chairman of 4-H/FFA livestock committee for the SEMO Fair, serves on Vo-Ag Advisory Committee for Jackson High School, is a member of New Trend Agronomy Committee, member of Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Parish.

Glen Meyr, Chaffee, who is co-owner/operator at Shawneetown Feed and Seed Company. He is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Chaffee, vice president of AAL. Branch 1196, treasurer of Cape Zone L.L.L., secretary of Chaffee Lions Club and a member of Missouri Seed Improvement Association.

Jerry Siemers, Cape Girardeau, is a dairy farmer. He is a member of the Extension Council. member of Gordonville Volunteer Fire Department, Southeast Holstein Association, Southeast DHIA Association, St. John's United Church of Christ and Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow.

Fred Higdon of Jackson, Assistant vice president and agriculture loan officer at Boatman's Bank, is a member of SEMO Fair Association, 4-H/FFA Sale Committee and sale treasurer. He is a member of Jackson FFA Advisory Committee, SEMO Swine Improvement Association., Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Cape Chamber of Commerce and Jackson Rotary Club. He is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with B.S. in Agri-Business.

Mary (Mrs. Brent) Bollinger of Jackson, is a bookkeeper in Jackson R-2 School District. She is treasurer for the Extension Council. She is also a 4-H Project Leader, and member of Fruitland 4-H Club. She is active in Jackson Girls Softball League and is a member of Jackson Trail Rider Organization, First Baptist Church in Jackson. Her husband farms at Fruitland, and is a part-time appraiser. The Bollingers have two children, Amanda and Matthew.

Nancy L. Cook, Burfordville, is assistant cashier at Jackson Exchange Bank and Trust Co. She is 4-H community leader for Hickory Grove 4-H Club. She is a member of Jackson High School Band Boosters Club and is secretary, treasurer and pianist for the Burfordville Baptist Church.

Joy Engelhart of Jackson is agent/office manager at Hill Insurance Agency and a consultant of Mary Kay Cosmetics. She is a currently on Extension Council. She is married and is the mother of four children. She is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pocahontas, member of City of Roses Charter Chapter of ABWA, and is a committee for her voting precinct.

Marie Hoffmeister, Jackson, is bookkeeper for Co-Op Service Center, Inc. she is a past 4-H Community Leader.

Sam Beggs of Jackson is owner/operator of Pioneer Market. He is a past member of Extension Council. He is a member of Missouri State Horticulture Society and honorary member of the Agriculture Club of Southeast Missouri State University.

He is a University of Missouri graduate with a degree in Horticulture. he is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Retail Merchants Association, Rotary Club, and Cape County Historical Association, St. Paul Lutheran Church and past president of the Congregation.

Art Blaylock, Jackson, is a real estate agent at Heartland Realty. He graduated from Henderson University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas, with a B.S. and majors in Physics and Math.

He is currently a member of Jackson Rotary and formerly worked with Boy Scouts Troop 11, Jackson Swim Team, Vo-Tech Advisory Council with Cape Vo-Tech.

Carole Sue Ludwig of Jackson is a speech language pathologist and is owner of Speech Pathology Associates. She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a past president of St. Paul School Board. She is married to Randy Ludwig. They have two children, Mindy, 17, and Douglas, 8. She owns and operates a private practice in speech pathology in Cape Girardeau serving children and adults with speech, language and hearing disabilities from a five county area.

Gail A. Roth of Cape Girardeau is a home economics teacher at Jackson Junior High School. She recently moved into the area and is interested in becoming involved on a local level. She is a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

Doris McBryde of Jackson is a customer service representative of Concord Printing in Cape Girardeau. She is an assistant community leader of Fruitland 4-H Club. She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and of PTA organization of St. Paul Lutheran School. She is Girl Scout cookie manager for Tsalagi Service Unit. McBryde and her husband, Lawrence McBryde, have two, Lance and Ashley.

Cheryl Couch, Jackson, is an elementary teacher in the Learning Disabilities Resource Room at Clippard Elementary in Cape Girardeau. She is a member of Missouri State Teachers Association, International Reading Association, Alpha Delta Kappa. Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher.

Marilyn Seyer of Jackson is a cafeteria worker in the Jackson R-2 School System. She is assistant community leader of Progressive 4-H, and is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She and her husband, Ronnie, have four sons, Ronnie, Tim, Ryan and Luke.

Cathy Hemmann, Jackson is part-time DHIA supervisor, and is involved in the family farm operation of Schoen Dairy Farm. She is married and the mother of two children, Katie and Kyle. She is a member and Sunday School Superintendent of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pocahontas. She is 4-H leader for Pocahontas 4-H Club and county wide Clober Kids assistant leader. She is a member of Missouri Holstein Association. She is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Agriculture.
