The Southeast Baroque Players, a new chamber trio, will perform Tuesday as part of the Cultural Programs series offered at Southeast Missouri State University.
The group consists of Paul Thompson, flute; Sara Edgerton, cello; and Gary Miller, harpsichord.
Thompson is a graduate of the London College of Music in England and continued studies at the Paris Conservatory. He currently teachers flute at Southeast and Murray State University.
Edgerton received degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Cornell University.
She currently performs with "musical offering," a baroque trio in Milwaukee, Wis. She is assistant professor of cello and director of the orchestra at Southeast.
Miller is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Staatliche Hochschule fuer Musik in Cologne, Germany.
An active organ and harpsichord recitalist, he has performed throughout the Midwest and Western Europe. He is professor of music at Southeast and organist/director at First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
The concert will feature works by G.F. Handel for flute and continuo, a sonata for cello and harpsichord by Benedetto Marcello, and the Sonata in B minor for flute and harpsichord by J.S. Bach.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Old St. Vincent's Church in Cape Girardeau.
