Regional Eyecare Center Inc. has more than doubled its space.

"We have more than 4,500 square feet now," said Dr. Beverly Cleair. "We previously had about 1,900 square feet. We're also offering expanded hours."

Cleair and Dr. Robert Felker announced expanded services for the center at 1749 Independence in Independence Square.

"We have completed the expansion and remodeling of our facility," said Cleair. "This is now the largest optometric center in Southeast Missouri."

Cleair said the expanded services include retinal photography, which enables doctors to monitor eye health.

"Visual fields can be done in the office to monitor peripheral vision," she said. "Visual therapy for learning-related visual problems is also available in the office."

The new eyewear dispensary has been enlarged to "offer all styles of frames and accessories," she said. "The large contact-lens inventory often allows immediate dispensing."

The firm offers a variety of sports frames, safety glasses and sunwear. An on-site optical laboratory provides glasses with minimal waiting time, said Cleair.

The center has been selected by the University of Missouri School of Optometry to serve as a site for final training of doctors.

"The close relationship with the school allows the center to keep abreast of the latest techniques," said Cleair.

Center hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A 24-hour telephone service is available.
