JACKSON -- Kenneth E. Volkerding of Jackson has earned membership in Lutheran Brotherhood's 1991 President's Club, one of the fraternal benefit society's most prestigious sales honors.

Representatives become eligible for membership based on sales of insurance and investment products to Lutherans. Volkerding is associated with Lutheran Brotherhood's Harlan Pals Agency in St. Charles.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark S. Kasten of Rental Land Inc., 1922 Independence, recently attended the American Rental Association's 36th National Convention and Rental Equipment Show in New Orleans.

Kasten attended several workshops and seminars including a 22-hour session on tent rentals.

More than 700 exhibitors displayed all types of equipment and products offered by rental operators.

American Rental Association, headquartered at Moline, Ill., is a trade association of more than 6,000 rental stores in the U.S., Canada and 13 other countries. More than 9,000 people attended the convention.

Dr. Beverly Cleair, local optometrist, and para-optometrics Annette Voelker, Karla Householder and Mardell Amelunke, all of Regional Eye Care Center Inc., 1749 Independence, recently attended the Southern Educational Congress of Optometry in Atlanta.

Various optometric related courses, lectures, panel discussions and hands-on workshops were conducted during the meeting.

Dr. Robert Kessinger recently attended a Kale Chiropractic Research Council meeting in Quebec, Canada. Kessinger assisted Dr. Micheal Kale in teaching chiropractic principles and practice to 25 Canadian doctors of chiropractic.

Kessinger operates Cape Chiropractic Life Center, 1424 Kurre Lane.

Dr. Charles H. Cozean of Cape Girardeau recently served as a guest faculty member at the 3M Stowe Ophthalmic Symposium in Stowe, Va. One of Cozean's topics was "No-stitch Cataract Surgery."

Terry Masters of Cape Girardeau County Farm Bureau insurance agency was recently recognized for service with the firm.

Masters, who has been with the firm five years, received his award during the company's All Star Sales Conference held at Lake Ozark.

Danny Freeman of Sikeston, supervisor of the Cape Girardeau Division of Employment Security Office, will attend the Interstate Conference of Employment Security Agencies winter meeting this month in Washington, D.C.

Freeman is president of the Missouri Chapter of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security (IAPES) and president of the Cape Area Personnel Association in Cape Girardeau.

John D. Rockefeller IV will be keynote speaker at the March 24-29 conference.

A number of nurses from St. Francis Medical Center have been nominated for the third annual Tribute To Missouri Nurses Awards program sponsored by the St. Louis University Hospital Auxiliary and St. Louis University School of Nursing.

Marcie Southard-Ritter, vice president of patient care at St. Francis, won the state honor in 1991.

Nominated for this year's honors were Debora Drury, Linda Lawrence, Marilyn Groshong, LaDonna Viox, Sue Nauert, Doris Hammontree, Linda Mirly, Jan Eichhorn, Pauline Elliott, Jeannie Fadler, Kathy Leimer, Mary Alice Dinkins and Bonita Fuller, all of St. Francis.

A total of 508 nominations have been made for the award.

Finalists will be honored during a banquet at Adam's Mark Hotel in St. Louis April 25.
