Dr. Anthony C. Zoffuto attended the American College of Occupational and Environmental Health Conference in Atlanta.

Topic of the conference was the "Americans with Disabilities Act," which will become effective for employers of businesses with 50 or more employees in July.

Christopher Bell, a chief writer of the bill, was present to explain the bill.

Zoffuto, a board-certified internist with special interest in occupational health and substance abuse, is a member of the Internal Medicine Group. His office is at 14 Doctors' Park.

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. Debra E. Johnson of Olive Branch, Ill., Modern Woodmen of America district representative, has completed a five-day educational program at the fraternal life insurance society's home office in Rock Island, Ill.

Johnson was one of 44 life insurance agents selected to attend the seminar, which discussed the firm's insurance plans, annuities and IRAs.

The award is presented to physicians who voluntarily complete 150 credit hours of continuing medical education courses during a three-year period.

The award is to recognize physicians who keep up-to-date in their medical specialties and add to their medical knowledge.

Dr. William P. Thorpe recently attended the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting in Washington, D.C., where he was a guest speaker.

He addressed the group on "Use of the Holmium Laser in Posterior Horn Tears of the Meniscus." Thorpe's presentation discussed state-of-the-art laser techniques.

Thorpe is in practice at Orthopaedic Associates in Doctors' Park. His group Otto, Riter, Trueblood, Eller, Thorpe and Lents, M.D. Orthopaedic Associates, P.C. provides orthopaedic care.

Dr. Robert Kessinger, a Cape Girardeau chiropractor, recently attended an Upper Cervical Specific Conference at the Kale Chiropractic Hospital and Research Center in Spartanburg, S.C.

Kessinger, who has a chiropractic practice in Cape Girardeau, is an instructor in the Upper Cervical Specific Certification program.
