Craig Schnuck, chairman of the board and chief executive officer for Schnucks Food & Drug headquartered in St. Louis, and Scott Schnuck, president and chief operating officer of the firm, were in Cape Girardeau last week to present employee awards.

A total of 20 employees at the Schnucks store at 19 S. Kingshighway received 15-year recognition Tuesday night at the award banquet at the Holiday Inn.

Receiving awards were: Sharon Beussink, Bob Brewer IV; Gary Browning, Carolyn Crump, Gale Dale, Cecilia Duly, Donna Essner, Sharon Essner, Kathy Hinkebein; John Huckabee; Mary Jane Maxwell, Linda Mouser, Carol Mouser, Debbie Petty, Rick Prost, Danny Reno, Patsy Ryan, Michael Schlick, Bob Smith and Carol Tenholder.

Kirby Friese will be honored Monday for 30 years of safe work by the Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America.

The firm, headquartered at Lombard, Ill., will recognize four Jackson resident s for employment and on-the-job safety during a dinner at the Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau.

Others to receive awards will be Nicholas Moore, 20-year safety award, and Kenneth Spooler, 10-year safety award. Edwin Thiele will be recognized for 10 years employment with the firm.

Charles Cole, superintendent of Natural Gas Pipeline's facilities at Jackson, will serve as master of ceremonies at the banquet.

Natural Gas Pipeline is a subsidiary of MidCon Corp., a unit of Occidental Petroleum Corporation.

Ted Hahn, account representative for Horace Mann Life Insurance Co., was recently honored for 1991 achievements.

He was named Missouri Life Agent of the Year, Annuity Agent of the Year, Multi-line Agent of the Year, Group Agent of the Year and the 1992 Group Agent of the Year in the western zone.

During the year, Hahn was also named to the Cape Girardeau National Life Underwriters Board of Directors and nominated for the President's Service Award on a national level through the Horace Mann Co.

Jana Jateff and LaDonia Beggs were honored for outstanding sales by the Mary Kay Cosmetics Co. recently during a conference at St. Louis.

Jateff, a senior director, and Beggs, a team leader from Jackson, were among several beauty consultants from the Jana Jateff Unit to attend the conference.

Others attending the session were Sonya Lappe of Bonne Terre; Betty Wills of Jackson; Brenda Hulsey, Ester; Sheila Venable, Jackson; Margie Jackson, De Soto; Bonnie McCullough, Cape Girardeau; Arlysse Popp, Oak Ridge, and Joy Englehardt of Jackson.

ANNA, Ill. Jerry L. Reppert, president of Reppert Hospitality Travel Center with offices in Cape Girardeau and Marion, Ill., has completed the Management Training Academy course in Phoenix.

The academy, sponsored by Travel Trade Publications, offers extensive programs on travel agency management with workshops on marketing, travel law, customer service, and other travel topics.

Mike Conrad of Cape Girardeau, showroom manager at Myers Supply, 620 Good Hope, recently attended a showroom seminar at Kohler, Wis.

The seminar was sponsored by the Kohler Co. Workshops were conducted on new products and other plumbing fixtures and equipment.

Dr. David J. Westrich, a Cape Girardeau ophthalmologist and retinal surgeon, presented a lecture, "Photocoagulation for Macular Disorders," at the Retinal and Vitreal Disorders Symposium held recently at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Westrich updated the eye surgeons on latest trends in the treatment of macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in older Americans.
