JACKSON - The board of directors of the Major Case Squad in Cape Girardeau and Bollinger counties has elected Cape Girardeau County Sheriff Norman Copeland as its chairman.
The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney's office announced Copeland's election to the position Wednesday.
Copeland's term as chairman runs until May 1993. He succeeds Jackson Police Chief Larry Koenig.
The squad was formed in 1983 and consists of officers from the Cape Girardeau and Jackson police departments and the Cape Girardeau County and Bollinger County sheriff's departments.
