Nineteen contestants will compete June 13 for the title of Miss Riverfest 1991, with seven children vying for the Little Miss Riverfest crown.

The fifth annual pageant is held in conjunction with the annual Riverfest celebration in Cape Girardeau, June 12-13.

Miss Riverfest contestants will be judged on poise and personality, speaking ability and overall appearance. Little Miss Riverfest contestants will be judged on casual and party wear modeling presentations.

Miss Riverfest 1991, Julie Schoeninger, will serve as co-host for the event, and Mrs. Missouri, Melannie Duncan, will be the pageant's guest judge. One of the pageant's highlights will be a performance by the St. Louis Professional Dancers and Cheerleaders.

A $100 savings bond from Mercantile Bank and a $500 savings bond from Capital Bank are among the prizes for contest winners.

Contestants in the Little Miss Riverfest Queen pageant are:

Jessica Christine Kirn, 4, of Jackson, is the daughter of Paul and Marie Kirn. She likes to write letters and enjoys painting. She also likes to attend Sunday school.

April Dawn Sanders, 4, of Scott City, is the daughter of Ron and Laura Sanders. She likes to help her mom raise Pomeranian puppies. She also likes to go to church and attend her dad's ball games.

Tanya Montana Lambert, 4, of Cape Girardeau, is the daughter of Robert and Penny Ross. She enjoys coloring and going to the park.

Madalyn Michelle Zieba, 4, of DeSoto, Ill., is the daughter of Greg and Maggie Zieba. She likes to ride her bicycle, go to school and enjoys reading.

Jessica Nicole Eftink, 5, of Leopold, is the daughter of Anthony and Karen Eftink. She likes to play "T-ball" and enjoys shopping and fishing.

Katie Wolz, 5, of Cape Girardeau, is the daughter of Jay and Kathy Wolz. She likes to paint and color and play at the park. She also likes to attend Cardinals baseball games.

Ashley Suzann Huffman, 4, of Cape Girardeau, is the daughter of Kevin and Lisa Huffman. She likes to play outside, especially at the park, and loves to go to her favorite pizza restaurant.

Contestants in the Miss Riverfest pageant are:

Christina Lynn Brumbaugh, 14, of Jackson, a sophomore at Jackson High School. She was president of the FHA this year and will be historian next year. She was also track manager, a member of the mixed chorus, and a participant in the Big Sister program. She's the daughter of Robert and Paula Brumbaugh.

Jennifer Icaza, 17, of Jackson, a senior at Jackson High School, where she participates in cheerleading, student council, Students Against Driving Drunk (SADD), the pep club, choir, and the JCPenny Teen Advisory Board. She's the daughter of Ramiro and Dianne Icaza.

Keri Edwards, 16, of Perryville, a junior at Perryville High School. She participates in the school's chapter of SADD and is a member of the Perryville High School varsity band. She's the daughter of Diane and John Edwards.

Cathie Compas, 15, of Cape Girardeau, a sophomore at Notre Dame High School. She's a member of SADD, student council and the pep club. She also plays volleyball and softball. She's the daughter of Pat and Bob Compas.

Cynthia Lee Barnett, 17, of Sikeston, a senior at Sikeston High School. Her hobbies include restoring a historical cabin and modeling. She also participates in gymnastics and is involved in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) in her school. She's the daughter of Sandra Mock and David Barnett.

Wendy A. Brickhaus, 16, of Perryville, a junior at St. Vincent High School. She's involved with the school's dance team, band, SADD chapter, and pep club. She's also a member of the 4-H Club and the St. Vincent Sodality. She's the daughter of Julie Brickhaus.

Holly Yeager, 14, of Poplar Bluff, a freshman at Neelyville High School. She's an honor roll student and member of the Beta Club. She's also involved with Future Homemakers of America (FHA), Girl Scouts, cheerleading, and community plays. She's the daughter of Bruce and Lisa Yeager.

Becky DeKriek, 18, of Sikeston, who will enroll this fall at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She likes to golf and fish, and enjoys sailing. She's the daughter of Rene and LaDona DeKriek.

Shawna Gillham, 17, of Jackson, a senior at Oak Ridge High School, where she's a member of the volleyball and softball teams. She also is involved in Drama Club, Spanish Club, FHA, and pep club. She's the daughter of Robert and Betty Gillham.

Sara Christine Jennewein, 16, of Jackson, a junior at Jackson High School. She's an avid swimmer and also enjoys running and weightlifting. She's involved in student council and other school clubs, band, and youth groups. She's the daughter of Mitzie and Michael Jennewein.

Janie Propst, 17, of Cape Girardeau, a senior at Cape Girardeau Central High School. She's a member of the Chamber Choir, student council, Red Dagger drama club, Beta Club, Patriotic Club, pom-pon squad, pep club, Spanish club, and the TRUTH Bible Club. She also was named a National Merit Commended Student. She's the daughter of Ed and Donna Propst.

Teresa Chandler, 17, of Perryville, a junior at Perryville High School. She's captain of the Flag Corps and plays flute. She's also a member of FBLA. She's the daughter of Thomas and Diana Chandler.

Bethany Ruth Grimes, 16, of Malden, a junior at Malden High School. She is involved with the school's drama club, band, and cheerleading squad. She also is a peer facilitator of the SADD chapter and is involved with her church youth group. She's the daughter of Michael and Kay Grimes.

Anitra Dawn Bruce, 15, of Morley, a sophomore at Scott County Central High School. She enjoys church activities, cheerleading, sports, and going to baseball games. She's the daughter of Doyle and Cathy Bruce.

Marissa LeeAnn Morris, 16, of Malden, a junior at Malden High School. She was the school's feature baton twirler and a cheerleader. She also is involved with SADD, student council and drama club, and enjoys dancing and singing. She's the daughter of Teresa Bateman.

Anita Sue Meyer, 16, of Uniontown, a junior at St. Vincent High School in Perryville. A self-designated "Tomboy," she enjoys playing football and as a freshman was on the boy's team. She also likes to play baseball. She was editor of the school newspaper and president of the Journalism Club. She also is an executive member of SADD, and participates in youth group, St. Vincent Sodality and pep club. She's the daughter of Leo J. and Rose Diane Meyer.

Tracy Wibbenmeyer, 16, of Perryville, a senior at Perryville High School, where she plays softball and is in the band and on the flag squad. She's the daughter of Barb and Roger Wibbenmeyer.

Michelle Brooks, 17, of Campbell, a senior at Campbell High School. She was varsity cheerleading captain, band majorette, and a member of the softball and volleyball teams. She also was in Beta Club, German Club, and student council. She was secretary of SADD, a member of the honor roll and is listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students." She's the daughter of Wayne and Donna Brooks.

Sarah Lynn King, 18, of Morley, a senior at Scott County Central High School. She's active in her church youth group and participates in a number of school activities. She also enjoys counseling at a camp for mentally handicapped persons. She's the daughter of Gene and Linda King.
