Police reported a 15-year-old boy was injured when an automobile struck him Monday on South Benton near William.

The youth, Marcus T. Newson, of 127 South Benton, was taken by Cape County Private Ambulance Service to Southeast Missouri Hospital with disabling injuries, Cape Girardeau police said. A Southeast spokeswoman said Tuesday afternoon that the teen-ager remained in good condition.

Specific information concerning the youth's injuries was unavailable Tuesday from police.

Police said the youth walked into the path of a southbound 1980 Chevrolet Citation while walking east across South Benton. The accident, police reported, occurred at 8:05 p.m. about 200 feet north of William.

The driver of the car was Tarshish R. Nelson of Ullin, Ill., Route 1. Police said they did not know the vehicle's speed when it hit the youth.
