Cape Art Engraving Co. Inc. has moved from its Broadview location to 728 Broadway in the Broadway Medical Equipment building.

Don Strohmeyer will continue to operate the business, assisted by his son, Dan, and Janice Friedrich.

"It's basically a family business," said Don Strohmeyer.

The new telephone number is 335-9398. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

In late February, Cape Art Engraving was divided into two companies, with the die manufacturing portion sold to Bud Redeen and Mike Pautz of Redeen Engraving of Chicago. It was renamed Cape Art Die Inc.

Don Strohmeyer said the retail portion of his former business continues as Cape Art Engraving.

Although he has been in business in Cape Girardeau for 25 years, Strohmeyer said he began the retail operation only about six years.

The business has about 1,800 square feet of space at the new location. "It lets us expand and it is a lot more convenient for people to get to," he said.

He added that Cape Art Engraving will offer carved glass and personalized leather products, as well as hand-carved wood items.

Don Strohmeyer said the company moved to its new location a few weeks ago and plans to hold an open house at a later date.
