ZALMA -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol named Conrad Ward an Honorary Trooper June 1 at its second annual Appreciation Day Barbecue.

The certificate was given to Ward in recognition of the service he had rendered to the officers of the Patrol working out of the Cape Girardeau, Fredericktown and Dexter zones during the time he served as the Zalma City Marshall and as a Special Deputy for Bollinger County.

This prestigious award is given to persons the patrol finds have given unselfishly of themselves untold times in assisting the Patrol in carrying out its mission of Service and Protection to the Citizens of Missouri.

Sergeant David M. Markham of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the certificate was issued to Ward because of his assistance to the Patrol in motor vehicle accident investigations, in serving arrest warrants, in marijuana eradication, in DWI and C&I driving detection, in manhunts, in locating lost persons and in presenting Drug Awareness and Safe Driving Education programs to local schools and civic groups.
