BENTON -- Donna Lynn of Benton, daughter of Donald and Katherine Lynn, is attending Missouri Scholar's Academy. Held in Columbia on the University of Missouri campus, the Academy began June 14 and will continue through July 4.

Held for the first time in 1985, the Missouri Scholar's Academy provides unique opportunities for students to enhance their academic skills by offering classes which differ from the traditional educational programs. Guest lectures, forums, films and other events are featured.

Tuition and expenses for the event are provided by the state of Missouri.

Lynn is one of 360 sophomores selected from more than 600 applicants from around the state to attend the Academy. The selection process is based on I.Q., achievement test scores, evidence of creativity, student essays and faculty recommendation.

In the fall, Lynn will be a junior at Thomas W. Kelly High School. Other activities include FHA/Hero, cheerleading co-captain, Beta Club, SADD, Student Council and Pep Club.
