Southeast Missouri State University will participate in a video-teleconference to be broadcast via satellite from the National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee's (NOICC) national conference Aug. 18 from 3-5 p.m.

Two-way telecommunication links at the Southeast campus and other down-link sites will enable participants to interact with each other and with a panel of counselor-education experts, who will discuss issues and answer questions about career information, development, transition and counseling.

Participants may earn two CEU credit hours for professional National Counselor Certification.

The teleconference will feature Purdue University professors Bruce Shertzer and Teri Loughead in a counselor-edu~cation videotape segment and five panelists who will answer telephone questions posed by conference attendees and those at the down-link sites, Southeast officials said.

Shertzer is the former president of the Association of Counseling Education and Supervision and the American Association for Counseling and Development, and is the author of several publications used in counselor education and career development courses in colleges and elementary-secondary schools.

Loughead, an assistant professor of counseling and development at Purdue University, has developed a teleconference focusing on the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.

NOICC was established in 1976 as a federal interagency committee to improve communication and coordination among developers and users of labor market and career information. It is a coordinating committee made up of representatives of 10 federal agencies within the U.S. Departments of Labor, Education, Commerce, Defense and Agriculture.

There is no charge for the teleconference but registrations are requested. To register, call the Career Planning and Placement office at Southeast, 651-2583.
