"This will free district executives to spend more time in other areas," said Johnson. The SEMO Council is comprised of 14 counties, divided into three districts with offices at Cape Girardeau, Kennett and Poplar Bluff.

Johnson, who is one of five professional scouters in the council, has more than 11 years of experience in professional scouting. He comes to Cape Girardeau from the Heart of America Council in Kansas City.

Other SEMO Council executives include Mark Wappel and Tony Smee, working out of the Cape Girardeau office; Stephen Sutter of the Kennett office and Jeff Doty of the Poplar Bluff office.
