SOUTHEAST AUXILIARY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO NURSING STUDY

Two Southeast Missouri Hospital nurses have been awarded Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary scholarships for advanced study in nursing. Each scholarship is for $2,500.

For the past six years, the auxiliary has awarded a scholarship to a Southeast employee who has been on staff at least two years, has a bachelor of science in nursing degree and is working toward a graduate degree in nursing. In 1991, the auxiliary instituted a second scholarship, available to a Southeast employee who has been on staff at least two years and is working toward a BSN degree.

The recipient of the auxiliary scholarship for graduate study in nursing is Theresa Hall. Hall is working toward a master of science in nursing degree at Murray State University.

Hall holds an associate of arts degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Webster University in St. Louis.

A member of Southeast's nursing staff for 14 years, Hall is currently nurse manager of the hospital's stress unit. She holds a medical-surgical nursing certification from the American Nurses Association.

Southeast's Recovery Room Nurse Manager is the recipient of the BSN scholarship. Nancy Voelker, a registered nurse, is continuing her work toward a bachelor of science degree at Webster University.

She holds an associate degree in nursing from St. Mary's College of O'Fallon. Prior to becoming affiliated with Southeast, she was employed by Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. Her professional certifications include Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
