SIKESTON - Republican state Senate candidate Peter Kinder Thursday signed a "Citizen Legislature Pledge" sponsored by Missourians for Limited Terms.

Kinder signed the pledge in Sikeston and agreed to support both term-limitation amendments on the general election ballot. He also promised to work toward implementation of limits on legislative terms at the state and national levels.

"Today I officially commit myself to serve the people as a citizen legislator," said Kinder. "Career politicians have ill-served us for too long. By enacting legislation for term limitations we can bring state government back to the people."

On hand for the signing ceremony in Malone Park was Greg Upchurch of Springfield, chairman of Missourians for Limited Terms.

Kinder faces Democrat Betty Hearnes in the Nov. 3 general election. They are seeking the seat being vacated by Sen. John C. Dennis of Benton.
