SCOTT CITY -- Twenty elephants and a menagerie of wild animals will be on display Friday when the Carson & Barnes Five-Ring Circus raises the "biggest Big Top on Earth" near I-55 exit 91, across from the Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport.

Shows will be presented at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Scott City Kiwanis Club.

Residents are invited to come out to view the menagerie while the circus is setting up Friday morning. It includes a pygmy hippo, a zebra, a zebu, a zonkey, a zeonie and a giraffe.

The circus will feature big cats in the steel arena, troupes of somersaulting trapeze artists, the "wheel of death" and a precision horse display.

It is the largest "tented mud show" in the U.S. today, traveling 230 days per year.

Tickets are available on circus day only at the circus box office.
