Helen Marie Schaffner and Richard Allen Cason were married Sept. 2, 2000, in a lake setting at Stroud's Oak Ridge Manor in Kansas City. The Rev. Robert Magee performed the double ring ceremony. Violinist was Steven Schaffner of Cape Girardeau, brother of the bride.

Parents of the bride are David and Barbara Schaffner of Cape Girardeau. Cason is the son of Ualdene Cason of St. Joseph, Mo., and the late Harry Cason.

Following the ceremony, a reception and dinner was held. Server was Aileen Mathews of Texas.

Mrs. Cason is a graduate of Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She is employed by Division of Aging.

The groom is a graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph and Culver-Stockton College at Stanton, Mo. He is employed in operations at Conway Central Express.

After a wedding trip to South Dakota, the couple resides in Kansas City.
