THIS IS response to the caller who commented about the new T-ball field on the White House lawn and was sarcastic about it. Let me tell you, as a parent of kids who got tired of having to explain why a stain on a woman's dress would have anything to do with our president, I would much rather see a T-ball field on the White House lawn with good, clean recreation than the type of recreation that went on in our White House when Bill Clinton was in office. ...

This is better

THIS IS response to the caller who commented about the new T-ball field on the White House lawn and was sarcastic about it. Let me tell you, as a parent of kids who got tired of having to explain why a stain on a woman's dress would have anything to do with our president, I would much rather see a T-ball field on the White House lawn with good, clean recreation than the type of recreation that went on in our White House when Bill Clinton was in office. We sold out for eight years because our almighty dollar was more important to us than values. Those of you complaining about things like high gas prices and T-ball fields if you want to go back to having an immoral, corrupt man in the White House, I hope you don't find your way to the polls in four more years.

It's not his fault

I'D LIKE to respond to one of the callers who is blaming Gov. Gray Davis for the blackouts in California. I lived in California for many years, and I was there when deregulation happened. The caller obviously didn't research. Pete Wilson was the one who signed the deregulation bill in California, and that's when their problems started. So, don't even think about hanging it on a decent man like Davis. He's doing everything he can to try to solve the problem.

Got what they wanted

I WANT to comment about a little hypocrisy that's going on. The people in California are getting exactly what Al Gore said he wanted. He said he wanted higher prices and people using less energy and higher taxes on energy, but they voted for Al Gore. Now, if they voted for him and they got what exactly what he told them he was going to give them, what are they complaining about? It's ridiculous. I'm just glad people out there are getting a little bit upset about what they want to put on the rest of the country. They should be happy about paying that high price for energy.

The daily prayer

I WOULD just like to congratulate the Missourian on carrying the daily prayer. I think this is such a wonderful thing. It's almost uncanny how daily, the prayer of the day includes something significant in my life. Last week there was one about doing something for others instead of for yourself, and I needed to hear that on that day in particular. Thank you so much again for carrying this prayer. I continue to look forward to it on a daily basis.

That other governor

IN RESPONSE to the Speak Out comment "Look in the mirror" about Gov. Gray Davis and the Democratic legislature of California being responsible for California's utility problems and electrical blackouts: The legislation that led to deregulation was signed into law by Gov. Pete Wilson, who, the last time I looked, was Republican.

Nab the litterers

ENOUGH IS enough. I live on the corner of Kingsway Drive and Leroy Drive, and I'm writing down the license-plate number of the next person I see throwing trash out of a car. I don't care if it's just a cigarette butt. And I'm calling the police. I think it's pretty bad. We've got to get together and put a stop to this.

Facts about fetuses

I'M CALLING about the recent comment about abortion. I am not advocating abortion, but some of the facts people are quoting are not facts. They are just thoughts. To start with, conception may start when the sperm enters the egg, but there is no viable pregnancy until the egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. There is a possibility the egg will be nourished and grow into a fetus. But just because a sperm enters an egg does not mean there is a fetus. If that's the case and if the egg doesn't implant, then that person is guilty of aborting herself. Again, I am not arguing by any stretch of the imagination for abortion. But people put out stuff like it's a fact when they don't know what they're talking about.
